Transform.....a perspective

Wow. Just simply WOW.

I just got done sending up a tweet saying I need a case of the Jarvis. So I headed to Chases blog to see what he was up to and saw this video from Zack Arias. I wasn't going to watch it but since I wasn't exactly doing anything right now, it was a coin flip. I think the video can apply to all walks of life. But it hits home seriously hard to creative types. Of course Zack is an image maker, so I can directly relate. I suck. He doesn't.

You rocked it Zack! You rocked it!

Here's the video.

Timing is a little off but...

This article from MSNBC lends a little, maybe a lot, of legitimacy to my more recent images. Since next week is Valentine's Day, pictures like this would be a great gift to your loved one. Either from you, from them to you, you for them or of each other or to each other. It doesn't matter.

Get your picture taken!

Motivation

I spend a lot of time looking at other peoples images in order to get ideas for my own shoots. When I drive around I make notes of places I would like to return to. Sometimes the season isn't right or even the weather. My favorite places are run down buildings or vacant lots and Industrial areas. Living near Pittsburgh there are a lot of old areas in which to shoot in. I just found a great place literally 200 feet from my house that will definitely come in to use in the future. Currently, it's near perfect for certain shoots since none of the trees have leaves and the ground isn't over grown with bushes. But once the growth comes back, it will change and not be so friendly.

One of the sites I found today was really inventive. So simple, but the execution was perfect. It's a series of portraits of high school seniors that will most likely create images that can span a generation. These pictures will show up in 10 and 20 years for their reunion events. Here they are.

(too much) Time on my hands

I am supposed to be doing taxes right now, but instead I am surfing the web. I thought I would share some of what I found

From Poop and Boogies
Why does bright light cause some people to sneeze?

Looking at the Sun Can Trigger a Sneeze

From The Blogfathers
Raising tri-lingual children

From the Best of Craigslist comes a Mastiff with a problem. I laughed so hard I cried.

A quick little post

I have my business card in the final edit stage. I had a sheet printed today at Staples, but I didn't like the paper they used. But under the guise of impatience, I will get some printed there then the bulk of them printed elsewhere. Maybe. It all comes down to cost.

Instead of designing my letterhead, I was on the forum over at Model Mayhem. There was a post about a 14 year old photographer. Here is the MM post here is the photographers Flickr page.

I had a few pages done of the new web site, but I decided to discard it all and go in a different creative direction. That was about a week wasted. In all honesty, it looked crappy anyway. Not something I wanted to use as a show place for my talents.

Symptoms of a starving artist

I was going over my numerous bookmarks.....or "favorites" for you IE users. Here are some that I liked. Now, I don't spend vast amounts of time on the below sites, but I return to them somewhat often enough to know what the are about. Dooce however, I am a regular customer.

I do have a lot of time on my hands and I always keep myself entertained. Of course, the www is full of entertainment and I prefer blogs.

Something to think about

This was passed on to me today and I felt it was important to share.

I served for 4 years and was in the Persian Gulf the first round.
It's important to express thanks and gratitude.
